Who we work with

Following the NHSEI announcement that, from 2030 onwards, the NHS will not purchase any good or supplies from companies that haven’t published their own Net Zero target (that aligns to NHS targets), we wanted to respond early and provide our suppliers with support and tools to measure, report and reduce their impact.

The Smart Carbon platform is a comprehensive tool that allows us to confidently measure and report our full ‘NHS carbon footprint plus’ across all scopes of the Greenhouse Gas Protocol. The team are leaders in the field and have helped us to directly engage with our supply chain to support each other with our shared goal of a decarbonised healthcare supply chain by 2040.

The support from the team at SmartCarbon has been exceptional! They are very knowledgeable, responsive and have been supportive in guiding us to simplify a project that is quite overwhelming when you get started. Anna-Lisa combines the authority that flows from her training with Al Gore and knowledge of the already inevitable global consequences of our changed climate with a compassionate awareness of the probable human consequences of that knowledge for those who come to understand the depth and immediacy of the problems we face. Somehow, however, she leaves behind a sense of hope and the belief that there are still actions we can take to make a difference. Extraordinary!

SmartCarbon Ltd took NHS BT through a comprehensive data collection, calculation and reporting process that was both aligned to the wider NHS Net Zero Plan and the Greenhouse Gas Protocol.  This involved processing massive quantities of complex data and utilising the SmartCarbon Calculator platform to produce the desired reports in a format that enabled the Organisation to effectively communicate carbon performance in a way that is accessible to all stakeholders, from Donor to Patient, as we continue to improve and save lives in a Sustainable way.

The SmartCarbon Calculator is a simple and time-saving platform that supports our greenhouse gas accounting and carbon reporting requirements. The site is easy to use and has adapted well over the years as our organisational structure has evolved.  Our external verifier was very happy with the audit trail available on the tool and the increased confidence it provides in the results incorporated into our annual report and accounts.

The Climate Reality check presentation was superb! It raised all the right challenges but in a way that was a lot more accessible than I’ve seen elsewhere.

The use of the SmartCarbon Calculator has been helpful in the calculation of our baseline carbon footprint in line with the SECR regulations. The downloadable SECR compliant report has given us increased confidence in our approach. The interactive graphs have helped us understand our data and focus our efforts in reducing our carbon footprint.
