Anna-Lisa Mills
Executive Director – Carbon Expertise
FISEP, CEnv, MSc, BSc (Hons), PGCE
Anna-Lisa is a highly committed, experienced, knowledgeable, and passionate professional with over 30 years experience in Sustainability and Carbon Reporting. Anna-Lisa has a proven track record in developing, implementing, and leading sustainability and carbon strategies for a wide range of organisations.
With a specialism in Greenhouse Gas Accounting and Carbon Footprinting, Anna-Lisa was previously employed as the Group Sustainability Manager for a large multi-national organisation, where she developed and implemented the Sustainability Strategy, leading a global team to achieve an absolute reduction in carbon emissions and exceeding the published reduction target 5 years ahead of schedule.
Anna-Lisa is a Chartered Environmentalist and a fellow Member of ISEP. She has completed Al Gore’s training programme to become a Climate Reality Leader and is an active member of ISEP’s Climate Change and Energy Steering Group as well as ISEP’s North East Regional Steering Group. Anna-Lisa is an Associate Lecturer at Northumbria University, teaching on the environmental management degree and masters course. Anna-Lisa is the author and lead tutor for a range of ISEP-approved Climate Emergency, Carbon Accounting and Net Zero courses through Northumbria University.
Lee Jackson
Managing Director
Lee leads SmartCarbon Ltd as well as engaging directly with clients to provide strategic support and deliver bespoke presentations, consultancy and training packages, including delivery of the ISEP accredited GHG accounting training through Northumbria University.
Lee’s background is in senior business development positions in the travel and payments sectors. He is an associate member of ISEP and has invested in understanding the areas of carbon management and environmental management.
He is passionate and pragmatic in working with both businesses and community groups to create a meaningful impact in response to the climate emergency and the subsequent decarbonisation challenge.
Graeme Mills
Operations Director
Graeme is the Operations Director for SmartCarbon Ltd. He is also the Managing Director of his own communications, marketing and organisational development business. Graeme holds Board advisory roles and Non-Executive Directorships with several enterprises.
Graeme’s expertise is in carbon, training, and people strategies. Graeme leads on the development of elearning courses and support clients with marketing and enabling organisations to deliver authentic environmental communication campaigns to internal or external audiences.
He has held a senior marketing role with one of the UK’s largest environmental consultancies. As well as strategy development, Graeme can implement multi-media communications campaigns that engage audiences, enhance branding and increase sales potential.
Anindya Chatterjee
Lead Consultant
PISEP, REnvP, CMIOSH, GIFireE, MSc, IDipNEBOSH
Anindya works with clients to guide reporting in line with the Greenhouse Gas Protocol, and to develop processes and procedures to aid on going measurement and reduction towards a set Net Zero target. Anindya has multi-sector experience in leading decarbonisation initiatives, helping clients to develop their internal capabilities to measure, report and reduce all areas of direct and indirect emissions. He is fully conversant in the full range of Greenhouse Gas Protocol Reporting Standards as well as standards for Net Zero, carbon neutrality, as well as Life Cycle product emissions and embodied carbon.
Based on the experience of implementing management systems for two decades in various industries, Anindya has the ability to offer pragmatic solutions on establishing processes, change management and behavioural changes.
Example work includes leading on a consultancy project to recalculate the 2019 carbon footprint base year for Newcastle Hospitals, which lead to a 43% uplift in total emissions (for the same reporting period) due to improved methodology and increased accuracy and completeness of the data. Leading on LCA project for Globus, a PPE supplier to NHS, Leading on Durham Cathedral Carbon Baseline and Net Zero Strategy as well as a host of other clients across a wide range of sizes and sectors.
Anindya is an MSc graduate from Northumbria University with distinction and winner of the Net Zero Innovation Challenge at the Newcastle Student Climate Change Summit. He is also an practitioner member of ISEP, Chartered Safety and Health Practitioner, Lead Verifier for ISO 14064, Lead Auditor for ISO 14001:2015 and ISO 45001:2018, and implementer for ISO 50001:2018.
Molly Woods
Programme Manager
PISEP, BArch
Molly is a sustainability professional and Practitioner member of ISEP, with over 20 years’ of experience. She is driven by a passion to tackle the climate emergency, and takes a people-centered approach.
As Programme Manager at SmartCarbon, she focuses on supporting clients in measuring emissions across their value chain and subsequent carbon reduction planning.
Molly transitioned from architecture, through technical advice and project management in the construction industry, to cross-sector decarbonisation focused activity. She has experience in the private, public and third sectors in design and construction, housing, health and education. Prior to joining SmartCarbon, Molly was Programme Manager for the Home Energy and Communities Team at Cumbria’s climate change charity Futureproof Cumbria (formerly CAfS). She also worked for nearly a decade as Strategic Consultancy Technical Advisor for the global consultancy Mott MacDonald.
Her technical expertise is wide-ranging, and includes climate change, carbon auditing and reduction, building energy, renewables and the circular economy.
With strong project management, communication and interpersonal skills, Molly excels at managing large teams, working collaboratively with multiple partners and engaging stakeholders.
Marietta Hahn
Senior Consultant
MSc, BSc (Hons)
Marietta brings over three years of consultancy experience to SmartCarbon, where she supports organisations in understanding and managing their carbon impact. Her work includes supporting the delivery of tailored workshops, carbon accounting, and emissions reporting in line with industry-leading frameworks such as the Greenhouse Gas Protocol and PPN 06/21. She collaborates closely with clients to improve data quality, identify emissions reduction opportunities, and align with both regulatory and voluntary climate disclosure requirements. Marietta combines technical expertise with practical insight to support clients on their path to net zero.
Prior to joining SmartCarbon, Marietta worked as a multidisciplinary consultant at Lucion, where she delivered a range of sustainability services including corporate and product carbon footprint assessments, net zero target setting, and carbon reduction planning. She was also the Lead Consultant responsible for the delivery of ESG Benchmark Compliance Assessments in support of transactional, multi-asset UK real estate portfolios.
Marietta is fully committed to tackling climate change through data-driven action, strategic collaboration, and the promotion of sustainable practices across organisations of all sizes.
She holds a BSc (Hons) in Animal Biology from Nottingham Trent University and an MSc in Environmental Monitoring, Modelling and Reconstruction from Northumbria University. Marietta also completed an ISEP-accredited Carbon Footprinting (GHG Accounting) course through Northumbria University and is working towards becoming a Practitioner member of ISEP.
Dale Clark
Carbon Consultant
BSc (Hons)
Dale has over 3 years of experience in organisational carbon footprint reporting in accordance with the Greenhouse Gas Protocol. He has strong experience in helping organisations meet SECR requirements and in guiding measurement in support of SBTi validation.
As part of his SmartCarbon role Dale has particular focus upon value-chain engagement, working with clients to improve Scope 3 reporting accuracy through supplier provided data.
Dale brings a variety of experience to his role, from electrical engineering to freight forwarding, energy management, and geotechnical engineering. Dale’s last role as an environmental officer for a large housing association in the North East of England, saw him undertake extensive carbon accounting and carbon reduction planning utilising a variety of tools including the SmartCarbon Calculator, providing Dale with significant experience of the SmartCarbon Platform from the client’s perspective.
Dale holds a first-class honours degree in Environmental Science from Teesside University. He is currently focused on doing the right thing for the planet and people, so that when his future children ask, “What did you do during the climate crisis?” he can honestly say “everything I could”.
