Here’s how SmartCarbon supported the Innovation Group to deliver a supply chain collaborative project that calculated and reported on the organisation’s emissions – including Scope 3 emissions.

Having produced sustainability reports for many years, the organisation has also long understood the importance of measuring and reporting on Scope 1, 2 and 3 carbon emissions in making a meaningful and positive impact.
In its 2015 Sustainability Report, Innovation Group stated:
“Carbon emissions, resource efficiency, business ethics, labour rights and health and safety, among others, are all issues that we seek to manage within our supply chain. We are committed to supporting our supply partners on sustainability issues given that the activities of our suppliers form part of the Group’s overall environmental and social footprint. We see it as our role to encourage our suppliers to be compliant with social and environmental regulations and to support them to improve their sustainability performance, whilst ensuring the highest quality of service to the customers of our clients.”
As a result of this commitment, Innovation Group launched its Approved Carbon Managed Supplier network (ACaMS) and set a target to roll out a managed carbon supply chain project supported by SmartCarbon. This included a series of regional workshops explaining the benefits of evaluating an organisation’s carbon footprint and introducing the SmartCarbon Calculator.
Through this project, supply chain providers were able to assess and understand their footprint with the aim of delivering the long-term benefits of reduced energy and material usage to Innovation Group’s clients, suppliers and shareholders.
