New Working From Home Factors on SmartCarbon

working from home

The ongoing pandemic has seen an unprecedented rise in people working from home (WFH) and indications are that a significant number of employees would continue to work from home even when the pandemic is over. While the office energy usage might have gone down due to WHF, it does not mean that the overall emissions have also gone down. Rather, it just shifted from Scope 1&2 to Scope 3. The SmartCarbon carbon footprint calculator platform now allows you to calculate the home working emissions. The WFH factors are available to all the users of SmartCarbon without any additional charges.

SmartCarbon users can access the up to date 6500+ factors published by the Department for Business, Energy & Industrial Strategy (BEIS) to enable them to build an accurate measurement of their carbon footprint. However, organisations may need additional bespoke emissions factors specific to their sector. For our NHS clients, we have recently added 26 bespoke factors on the SmartCarbon. We are already working to expand our bespoke factors for other sectors in the coming months. If you would like to include a bespoke factor relevant to your business, please get in touch with us at [email protected] (existing clients).
