The SmartCarbon team is delighted to have been selected as a finalist at this year’s Dynamites 22 Awards in the Sustainability in Tech category. The awards ceremony, which shines a light on the North East’s IT and Technology community, will be held at Newcastle’s Civic Centre and hosted by comedian, Carl Hutchinson.
The Sustainability in Tech Award is a new category for 2022, sponsored by BJSS. This shortlisting demonstrates the significant impact that our SmartCarbon Calculator has had within the North East business community and signals the growing awareness of the need for organisations to measure, report and reduce carbon.
We are also proud to be recognised alongside a number of other leading technology businesses, all of whom are supporting businesses and individuals to reduce carbon emissions in their own unique ways.
On the announcement of our shortlisting for the 2022 Sustainability in Tech Award, SmartCarbon Director, Anna-Lisa Mills said:
“I’m absolutely delighted that SmartCarbon has been recognised in this way. It is a true testament to the hard work and dedication shown by our team that we have been shortlisted for the Sustainability in Tech Award. It is also a reflection of the positive response we have seen from organisations in the region who have readily adopted our tool, and are using it to hold themselves accountable for their contributions to the climate crisis.
“I’m also thrilled to see that this new category has been introduced by Dynamo. Having worked in the field of Sustainability and Carbon Reporting for over 25 years, it’s not always been an area that has gained much attention. But the introduction of this dedicated award for 2022 is a clear sign that perceptions are changing and that technology has a clear role to play in helping us all tackle the climate crisis.”
SmartCarbon’s submission for the 2022 Sustainability in Tech Award featured the example of recent carbon reporting work completed by JDDK Architects, a firm specialising in sustainable design solutions. Using the SmartCarbon Calculator, JDDK has been able to measure their own organisational impact, demonstrate a significant reduction in their carbon footprint performance over several years, and use data to inform decision-making in the business.
The Dynamites Awards 2022 will take place on 10th November. We look forward to sharing more information about the event and the results in due course.
